About
This course offers a strong, beginner-friendly foundation in climate modelling, combining theory with hands-on practice. It is designed for students, researchers, and professionals who want to understand how climate projections are developed and how climate model outputs can be used for climate change, climate risk and climate variability (uncertainty) analysis. Details of the hands on program - • Basics of climate modelling – from 1-D models to GCMs & RCMs and the differences between their functions and usage • CMIP5 & CMIP6 emissions scenarios and how they are developed and how they are different from each other • How climate models are run – inputs, initial & boundary conditions - do we need these for all models and if we do why are they needed • Statistics used in climate science + how to read maps & interpret results - with python based exercises • Every participant will run a 1-D model for different emissions scenarios • Understanding climate variability vs. climate change • What are ensembles, how they’re generated, and how to use them for risk analysis • Hands-on Python training to work with climate model data and perform data analysis including climate risk analysis For more information, please contact us at Helpdesk.alclasses@outlook.com or on WhatsApp at +919501979701
